Allow Me to Intoduce Myself
Introduction
Get to Know Me
Hi there, my name is Jordyn and I am married to my incredible husband and a mama and step-mom to 2 boys – Theodore (6 months) and Jace (12 years). I was born and raised in the midwest in small town Iowa, moved to south Florida where I met my husband, and now we live in North Texas with our little family. My husband and I recently got married in April 2023 in Aubrey, Texas and it was a beautiful, chaotic, love filled day (that story will be for another blog post on another day).
My hobbies include starting each day with a cup of coffee, ending some days with a glass of wine or a margarita, lifting heavy shit a handful of times throughout the week, cooking and baking all things from scratch while slowly building the dream of a homestead, and lets not forget a healthy amount of swear words – if you were looking for a PG blog, I’m sorry but this sure as shit won’t be it.
I also have a deep love and passion for EVERYTHING that motherhood encompasses – from pregnancy, to researching products, postpartum, breastfeeding, developmental milestones, and all the things in between. The chaotic and the beautiful moments of motherhood are what light my soul on fire.
From the moment I was pregnant with Theodore I knew I wanted a home birth, no questions asked. That led me down the journey of researching EVERYTHING. From products, to vaccines, sleep, milestones, the list goes on and on. Truthfully, I have spent hours upon hours researching topics. That, along with my own personal experiences that led me to create this brand, Instinctual Motherhood.
I wanted to create a place that soon-to-be moms, new moms, and seasoned moms could come to find insight on the topics they have questions on, a space that is safe for them to inquire without judgement, and a community where they feel supported. Personally, I really don’t care WHAT decisions you make for your family because I don’t know you or your situation. What I do care about, is making sure you have the information you need to make an informed decision based on what is best for your family and providing a space that offers community and support for your unique decisions.
We can make different decisions when raising our children and still be friends, I promise.
Behind the Brand
And with that I’d love to dive more into the brand of Instinctual Motherhood. I am starting with a blog as a place for moms of all walks to come to. Here you will find topics ranging from coffee talks and top of mind thoughts to choices you may need to make throughout your journey in motherhood, and even recipes for the home and probably more.
Someday it may evolve to more than just a blog, but for now this is a space for me to educate, connect, and build a community of moms. Motherhood can be lonely and I want moms to know they are not alone, I want them to know they can questions the status quo and have a safe place they can come do that. I want them to feel empowered to follow their instincts to make the best decisions for their family and their unique situation. This, I hope, will be that place.
On this journey you can expect for me to keep it real, raw, and authentic. I am not here to sugar coat a damn thing. In fact, I am here to do quite the opposite. I am here to shine a light on the topics that are uncomfortable and make them a conversation. I am here to make you think before you just go with what is “normal”. My goal on this journey is that through my experiences maybe you find you relate to me, or maybe through educating you question what has been taught as “normal”. Whatever your reason is for being here, I am truly glad you are here and I hope you find it adds value to your life.
Lets Wrap This Shit Up
As we start this journey, I hope you learned a little bit more about me, the brand, and my passion for it and all things motherhood. I am excited to have you here with me on this ride. My motto here is “done is better than perfect”, so you better believe I am learning right alongside you.
Motherhood is not for the faint of heart, it will strip you down to your core and build you back up better than you could’ve ever imagined; it is beautiful, chaotic, joy filled, overwhelming, and a whole lot of other things.
Welcome to Instinctual Motherhood.
With Love,
Jordyn
